Family Promise of Sussex County is hosting its second annual Service Strong Veterans Fair. This event helps connect veterans, military personnel, and military families to a wide range of organizations and providers to offer resources and services, including housing services, employment opportunities, and community resources.
Since 2019, FPSC has served 161 veterans across our various housing, prevention, and crisis programs. 81% of the veterans served had a disabling condition, 51% were 55 years of age or older, 11% were experiencing chronic homelessness, and 13% were survivors of domestic violence. 83% of the veterans we worked with exited to permanent housing.

Veterans and former service members are at a greater risk of homelessness than the general population. Combat exposure and PTSD are risk factors that contribute to housing instability. As the cost-of-living and inflation increase, essential expenses such as rent, utilities, and groceries become more expensive. This causes a strain on the fixed or limited incomes that many veterans rely on, making housing stability and sustainability difficult.
